GDocBackup is a utility to backup locally documents saved in Google Docs. Google Docs is a service that Google gives to GMail users.

Following the security "in the cloud" principle, they allow you to store files smaller than 500 Kb (typically, Word and Excel files) in order to be able to see and modify them on the go, from any computer connected to the Internet. You will not need to install any program to use Google Docs, all you need to do is log in.

This free tool lets you keep an up-to-date backup copy of the uploaded documents in your local disk. The program will ask you for your GMail account and password whenever you wish to connect. You will also need to specify a local directory where the program will save the backed-up documents. Then, it will look for the files stored under your Google Docs account. If the date of any file differs from the date of the same file in your disk, the program will download the latest version. It will also download new files if they are not already presented in your system. The program runs on Windows XP, Vista & 7, Linux and Mac.
